Keeping track in a way that fits your day

A simple routine to keep your amounts and dates up to date.

Planning gives you a reference point. Confirmation brings it closer to what actually happened.

Return to the facts regularly

FCAC recommends comparing actual spending with your plan each month and adjusting amounts when differences recur. A higher bill or a change in income also calls for an update.

Three things to check in CapSolde

  1. What happened: confirm payments made and income received with their actual amounts and dates.
  2. What is coming: check upcoming payments and new expenses. An entry for tomorrow stays planned until you confirm it.
  3. What is left: read the explanation of the estimated amount before saving, paying extra or spending.

Choose a moment that is easy to remember, such as after payday. When you spot a difference, correct the relevant information rather than restarting everything. The “Review” button also lets you revisit steps before completing setup.

Expected or unexpected?

A known annual expense belongs in your plan. An emergency fund is for unexpected costs, a distinction highlighted by FCAC.

In CapSolde, the cash buffer is the amount you want to keep in your account to protect your choices. Entering it does not create an emergency fund or move any money.

The aim is to keep reliable reference points for your next choice. You can improve your tracking gradually as you gather your information.
